RACINE — Sometimes you just have to escape. The hustle and bustle of everyday life can sometimes be enough to drive people crazy. But luxury hotels and resorts can be too expensive, not to mention the artificiality that most places offer.
You want to be in contact with nature.
If you are looking for a place that is economical but brings you closer to the beauty and reality of nature, the Travelodge By Wyndham Water’s Edge Hotel is the place you have been looking for.
The Waters Edge Hotel, 3700 Northwestern Ave., is currently undergoing many new and exciting expansions to its common areas.
The Water’s Edge sits off the bank of the Root River, overlooking the Horlick Dam. Guests on one side of the hotel experience the majesty and beauty of the Root River up close, a perfect spot for anglers, kayakers and canoeists. Guests of the hotel bar and banquet halls will also be treated to the panoramic view of the Horlick Dam.

“In a city the size of Racine, we felt we had to do more. Not only to restore its former glory, but also to move forward into the future,” said Patrick K. Prabhu, co-owner of Water’s Edge Hotel.
Prabhu purchased the hotel in 2019, which by then had been used as an apartment building with resident guests. Prabhu and his team worked to restore each of the 114 rooms with new insulation, wiring, heating and air conditioning systems, bringing them back to their hotel status.
There are also plans to restore the banquet hall so that guests can celebrate special moments like weddings, birthdays and other events.
The hotel bar is also being refurbished and should be ready by next week.
Prabhu and his staff also plan to make new additions to the hotel.
A pool house equipped with an indoor swimming pool and jacuzzi and a wrap-around terrace surrounding the bar and banquet hall should be installed and operational by winter.
Room rates are generally $50 to $60 a night, but prices fluctuate during peak season, from Memorial Day to Labor Day. At most, rooms cost $150 a night.
