London boutique hotel available to rent for the ultimate evening after lockdown
We started with shared entrees of celeriac soup with truffle croutons and shaved chestnuts. Then came our main courses, a huge chicken, leek and tarragon pie served family-style in a baking sheet alongside large steaming bowls of buttered winter vegetables. While I’ve enjoyed my fair share of Michelin-starred meals, casual dinners like this often make the perfect evening if enjoyed with friends and family. It reminded me of another quote from Jane Austen, which turns out to be an ideal endorsement for Henry’s: “There is nothing quite like staying at home, for real comfort.”
Henry’s Townhouse sleeps 14, from £ 4,950 per night, including breakfast, afternoon tea, soft drinks and an evening aperitif for the group (henrystownhouse.co.uk; 07557 100892). From Monday May 17th, indoor mixing will be authorized in England according to the six / two hearth rule.
