Kate Middleton’s white bridesmaid dresses were 10 years ahead of the trend
Kate Middleton is known for adhering to royal rules when it comes to dressing, but that doesn’t mean the Duchess isn’t a trailblazer.
For her wedding to Prince William in April 2011, Kate, now 40, wowed in her incredible white lace Alexander McQueen dress.
And for her bridesmaids’ dresses, including those of her sister Pippa Middleton, Kate moved away from the traditional pastels or rich tones usually used, and opted for white instead – which is now the one of the biggest wedding trends of 2022. 2.
For the incredible ceremony, Kate chose to work with childrenswear designer Nicki Macfarlane on the gorgeous white satin dresses the young bridesmaids wore.

The dresses were created from the same fabric as Kate’s and finished with the English lace that featured on the bride’s petticoat. There were also identical button details on the back.
Kate wasn’t the only royal to opt for white dresses, as seven years later Meghan Markle followed in her footsteps and dressed her own bridesmaids in white for her 2018 wedding to Prince Harry.
Meghan worked with Clare Waight Keller and the haute couture atelier Givenchy in Paris to create the sweet dresses for her six young bridesmaids.
With dress codes and themes changing over the years, the idea of the bride being the only person wearing the color white has become less taboo.
Here are some of the best white bridesmaid dresses on the high street, so your bridesmaids can match you on your big day.
