If you thought Anya Taylor-Joy’s Emmys dress was crazy, wait until you see her after the first party
Anya Taylor-Joy always makes us smile. The clue is in the name!
Her red carpet look never fails to make an impression, and the yellow backless Dior Haute Couture dress by Maria Grazia Chiuri that she wore to the 73rd Primetime Emmy Awards on Sunday night was no exception. But even we weren’t prepared for the dramatic look she sported at the after party. And we don’t think you will be either …
For the after party, the 25-year-old Queen’s Gambit actress stuck with the yellow color scheme – as it should be; when something works for you, you should stick with it! – but that’s where the similarities to her stunning red carpet dress from the Emmys ended.
The actress slipped into something a little more comfortable, shall we say, as she attended the after-party in a silk and lace lingerie set in a much paler shade of yellow, which was once again the fine work of Dior Haute Couture by Maria Grazia Chiuri. The bold high waisted bra and shorts set – which looks like it may have been worn by Taylor-Joy’s Queen’s Gambit character, Beth Harmon due to her unmistakable 1950s aesthetic – even came with a matching silk gauze cape, and of course, the actress’ face mask was also expertly matched in color and fabric. Who knew protecting yourself and others from COVID could be so stylish?
As you can imagine, the perfectly coordinated look turned heads and got the world talking. Taylor-Joy may not have won the “Leading Actress in a Limited Series” category award – it went to Kate Winslet for her role in Easttown mare, even if The Queen’s Gambit won the “Best Limited Series” gong – but she won all of our best outfit awards!
She even took to Instagram to thank the Dior team for their hard work on her Emmy red carpet dress (she allegedly helped design it too!)
” Where to start. What an absolute privilege to be able to celebrate The Queens Gambit last night at @televisionacad. To be able to hug, hold and laugh. I am (and will be) eternally grateful that we were able to date beautifully, ”she wrote on her Instagram page, alongside a few photos of her jaw-dropping dress.
“Thanks to everyone who watched… and a huge THANK YOU to @mariagziachiuri and @dior @diorbeauty home for making my dream dress! I am more than proud to see one of my designs so beautifully showcased by the exquisite craftsmanship of the house and the style of my day 1 ride or die @paulburgo…. My favorite dress I’ve worn and an evening I’ll never forget. THANK YOU ! “
Congratulations to the Queen’s Gambit the cast and crew on their Emmy win, and congratulations – and thank you – to Taylor-Joy for showing us the meaning of “outfit goals” twice in one night!
