Are the warnings too late? Haute Couture by Diyawanna! – The Island

I have an idea! Why don’t we the people vote and form our own shadow cabinet? We all agree that the current system and the people it regurgitates in Parliament are totally useless. Why don’t scholarly political scientists and the like work on the list of ministries I have given below, current ministries in New Zealand, adapt it to a “dream cabinet” Sri Lanka, call for applications from the general public, ask nominees if they would like to express their opinion on issues relating to their subjects when problems arise in the country and see if their solutions are better than what the government is doing in Sri Lanka. power?
Of course, there will be qualification criteria for the nominations. We will have a minimum age and a maximum age, there will be minimum educational qualifications, and things like if they have ever done this job or been involved in politics, they can be disqualified. A criminal record is an automatic disqualifier.

You will notice that there are a total of 20 ministers and three ministers outside the cabinet. Ministers hold several ministries in some cases and sometimes replace other ministers.
I guess the usual argument that New Zealand has only five million people and therefore can be ruled by a small cabinet will be put forward. Let me tell you that Australia has roughly the same population as the Pearl also only has 20 ministers.
Let’s stop whining and whining about those incompetent people in parliament and follow them with people in civil society who are willing to come forward and have answers to today’s burning questions. Email me with your ideas and see if we can go further.
I call on a newspaper or a civil interest lobby to take this idea further, to spread it among the Sinhala and Tamil speaking population, and to give the âbig catsâ of Diyawannawa a run for their money!
